What Qualifications do I need to be a Helicopter Crew?
One of the most frequently asked questions of the Helicopter Industry is what qualifications do I need to become a Helicopter Crewperson and how do I go about it?
The Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council (TLISC) is responsible for the facilitation and management of the Aviation Training Package standards on behalf of the aviation industry and Government within Australia.
The Aviation Training Package consists of 19 Qualifications from Certificate I through to Advanced Diploma, 27 Skill Sets and over 189 Competencies.
AVI30510 Certificate III in Aviation (Rescue Crew)
This qualification reflects the role of a rescue crewman working in the helicopter operational environment. It also supports through its competency makeup a range of Ground Support Operational roles.In order to achieve a successful assessment outcome for the AVI30510 Certificate III in Aviation (Rescue Crew) a total of 14 units must be obtained comprising of 9 core units plus 5 elective units.
At least 3 of the elective units must be selected from the elective options. Up to 2 elective units with appropriate contextualisation may be selected from any currently endorsed national Training Package or accredited course.
AVI40610 Certificate IV in Aviation (Aircrewman)
This qualification refects the role of an air crewman working in the helicopter operational environment. It also supports through its competency makeup a range of Ground Support Operational roles.
In order to achieve a successful assessment outcome for the AVI40610 Certificate IV in Aviation (Aircrewman a total of 21 units must be obtained comprising of 14 core units plus 7 elective units.
At least 4 of the elective units must be selected from the elective options. Up to 3 elective units with appropriate contextualisation may be selected from any currently endorsed national Training Package or accredited course
